Motorcade is a map-first companion for friends road-tripping in several cars. It answers the questions a convoy constantly asks: who is leading, who fell behind, did someone stop or lose signal, are we all still heading to the same place, and when should we regroup.
It deliberately owns the group, not the navigation. Waze, Google Maps and Apple Maps still do turn-by-turn; Motorcade keeps the shared picture and hands you back to your navigator in one tap. Sharing is explicit, per drive, and expires on arrival, and the interface stays calm while you drive.
The foundation is a Kotlin and Ktor API with Kotlin Multiplatform models and rules for trip state, relative position and confidence, a SwiftUI and MapKit iOS app with map-first onboarding, and a deterministic offline simulator that drives a multi-car formation along a real route for previews and tests.
It also prototypes a post-drive journal: replay with a scrubber and stops, and a refuel log with on-device receipt scanning via Apple Vision. The identity is built like an instrument cluster, in graphite, acid-lime and brake-red.
